Campus protocol and operation
Our ongoing goal is to create a healthy environment for our staff and students, and to keep everyone informed of the latest protocols that we are following on our campus with the direction of the local Costa Rican Ministry of Health. We are well aware that this global pandemic has affected many of you personally, but we trust that the Lord will provide for each one and bring healing and restoration to our nations!
Beginning April 1, 2022, establishments, activities and events will be able to operate at
100% capacity without requiring a vaccination QR code.
The use of face masks is no longer mandatory, but we do recommend their use in case you present flu or Covid related symptoms.
Hand sanitizer is available throughout the campus and its use is highly recommended.
All students and new staff will be asked to sign a medically liability form prior to their arrival.
All students, new staff, and staff entering campus will be required to complete our COVID-19 questionnaire prior to their arrival on campus.
All students, new staff, volunteers and all those who return from their passport and / or Visa renewal or from vacation or other procedures outside the country will NO LONGER be required to present a negative COVID test, instead we require the use of a face mask for the first 5 days upon arrival when in close contact with other people.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 we ask that all staff / students periodically check their symptoms:
These can include the following:
Shortness of breath or trouble breathing
Chills: repeated shaking with chills
Muscle pain
Headache
Throat pain
Loss of taste or smell
Diarrhea
Feeling of fever or a temperature greater than or equal to 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit.
If you have or have had any of the following symptoms in the last 24 hours, please contact your direct leader to ask for the necessary process to follow.
What steps will be taken if you test positive for COVID-19 upon arrival or at any time during your school or stay at YWAM?
If you have a positive COVID result, we will ask you to quarantine for 5 days in the designated place assigned to you. We will provide you with a separate room. We will provide your meals and help you seek medical care when necessary. We are unable to provide medical care on our campus. If needed, we will call an ambulance to transfer you to one of the local hospitals and notify your emergency contact immediately, should you be in need of this kind of care. You are financially responsible for the medical care you receive.
Will you be able to attend classes or events on campus if you test positive for COVID-19?
You will not be able to attend classes or campus events until you finish your 5 day quarantine. We then request that you use a face mask for the following 5 days upon leaving quarantine or present us with a negative test (rapid at home test is allowed). If you have to be quarantined, you can follow the classes through Zoom.
What is the chance that school will be canceled or postponed?
The schools will operate under the guidelines established by the Costa Rican government, under the guidance of our local COVID-19 response team and elders. In the event of cancellation or postponement due to COVID-19, we will inform you as soon as decisions are made and give you up to one week to make travel arrangements to vacate campus. We will work to reschedule as quickly as possible and re-enroll you in an upcoming school.
Visitors to the base
Starting April 1st. 2022 all visitors are once again welcome on our campus. Visitors must be accompanied by a staff or students throughout the duration of their visit or by the person who invited them and will be required to use a face mask during the duration of their stay.
Feel free to contact us with any questions regarding your enrollment in our upcoming schools. We are praying for each of you as you prepare to travel to San Jose, and we look forward to learning more about what the Lord has in store for us as we seek to know and make God known!
