David MatheneyHello, my name is David Matheney but most people just call me Dave. I have been doing missions work since 1994 when I went on my first short term mission trip. Over the years I have been on seven short term mission trips with my longest trip being in Zambia, Africa for ten weeks. I have always had a passion for missions ever since my first overseas mission trip to Costa Rica in 1996. That's when I knew God called me to missions. I just didn’t know when and where. I have an AS degree in Film & Video from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. I worked for the television station WB18 in Orlando for two years. Then I moved to Miami and worked for NBC for 6 years. There I got to live oceanfront on South Beach, Miami, Florida (it was rough). In April 2011 I did the Xtreme Adventure (DTS) in San Jose, Costa Rica and I did my outreach in Costa Rica, Panama, Peru and Bolivia. In September 2011 I took the Foundations in Community Development School (FCD). And in January 2011 I took the School of Worship (SOW). I thought after school was done I would be coming back home in April 2012 and be going off to Africa in May 2012. But that is not God’s plan for me. He said I will be going to Africa but not for another three years or so. He has called me to be a Missionary in Costa Rica with YWAM for the next couple years. I am staffing the Xtreme and Classic Discipleship Training Schools (DTS). I am also in charge of the internet and all web activities at the base including this YWAM San Jose website, Facebook pages and YouTube page. And last I am leading Revolution Skateboarding Ministry with my good friend Tony Delrio where we want to open the first free public skate park in San Jose, Costa Rica. Dave is from the: USA |
